A place that was hers alone and she could escape to it and read or write or just sit and think. It is interesting how many of these little "getaway" places there are here on MDI. A phenomenon of the intense summer season and its sometimes draining impact on the matriarch and hostess. This project was a real pleasure to do. When Finley asked me to design a new home for them I unfortunately had more work than we could handle and did not want to agree to something we could not due and recommended some fellows in Blue Hill. When their project was complete I did have time to design a small garden cottage for Joanie.
