Description: Charles W. Eliot (1834-1926) was Harvard president from 1869-1909. He was a founding member of the Northeast Harbor summer community. This print was a gift to donor from the late Joseph William Pepperell Frost of Eliot, Maine, noted antiquarian of rare prints, books, and manuscripts.
Description: Probably painted on Gotts Island as Lucia Leffingwell had a cottage there and the Kenways also owned a house and vacationed on the island. Originally the painting may have been framed showing less than shown here, hence the discoloration toward the bottom.
