Touchstones: Sculpture Participating with Place
Description:
"We are touched by what we touch. We are shaped by what we shape. We are enhanced by what we enhance." The Great Work -- Thomas Berry Sculpture invites us to more fully engage with our environment. It helps focus our attention on nature's materials and forms. Sculpture has presence and enlivens a setting. As we interact with sculpture, our senses are heightened and we become more acutely aware of the intricate beauty of our places. -- JL Image: Thin Green Line in granite and moss by Gary Haven Smith Opening Reception Sunday June 12, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Ethel H. Blum Gallery: How does nature nurture us? Sculpture made from granite, marble, moss, mica, and wood brings nature into our lives and explores the numinous quality of matter. June 8--September 30 The Farrand Gardens: Where we nurture nature, sculpture acts as a focal point for a contemplative setting.
